ETF Securities, a global leader in commodity ETFs, has recently established its business in the US To support the rapid growth of this business, the company is looking for an experienced ETF sales person to cover the West Coast territory, based in San Francisco.

ETFS Marketing LLC – (US Marketing Agent for ETF Securities)

ETF Securities is a provider of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). ETF Securities pioneered the world’s first gold ETF through the establishment of Gold Bullion Securities in Australia and London in 2003.

The ETF platform offered by ETF Securities has experienced massive growth with assets under management growing to over $16 billion. The increase in assets has occurred as a result of growing investor demand for commodities and a market leading exchange traded product offering.

ETF Securities continue to innovate and improve its product offering and has established itself as a world-leader in the field of exchange traded products.

Background to the Appointment

ETF Securities has recently established its business in the US market with the launch of ETFS Physical Swiss Gold Shares (SGOL) and ETFS Physical Silver Shares (SIVR). The products have grown quickly and now have more than $350m in Assets Under Management between them (as at 20th Oct 09). More precious metal and other commodity ETFs are in the product development pipeline.

To support this initiative, there is a need to appoint proven sales executives who have a track record selling ETFs in the American market. The main function of this role will be to drive the successful promotion of ETF Securities American business and grow the new west coast franchise.

ETFS Marketing is headquartered in New York however the appointment for the West Coast Business Development position will be based in San Francisco.

The individual will report directly to the head of Sales & Marketing, USA.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

• To build and grow the firms distribution of ETFs to West coast clients

• To create and maintain an extensive contact database of potential clients

• To be directly involved in client service and dialogue

• To suggest new and build on existing marketing events and sales strategies

• To provide support on the operations and management of exchange traded investments

• To develop and maintain the firm’s research tools and databases

• To provide support and ideas for the development of new exchange traded investments and to assist with the execution of new products

• To take on a share of the administrative duties handled by executives

Essential Skills

Potential candidates will need to be highly motivated, creative and commercial. They should be entrepreneurial in spirit and show a willingness to succeed in a high performing team.

Technical

  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience within ETF markets
  • A comprehensive understanding of the US ETF market and client base
  • Proven business development capabilities, winning new clients and demonstration of relationship management
  • An appreciation of the different approaches required for different customer segments
  • Series 7 and 63 securities licences

Non-technical

  • Self sufficient and self motivated
  • Strong book of west coast clients
  • Strong media and communication skill set
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative individual
  • Open individual and a team player

Personal skills

  • Strong communications (oral and written) skills and ability to create and maintain client relationships are paramount
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Outgoing and sociable
