Our client will offer advice to the same clients, focusing on HK and China A shares. There will be a team of senior analysts in HK, supported by a team of junior analysts in Shanghai, under the guidance and supervision of one senior Shanghai based analyst.  

The successful candidate will need to be internationally minded, inquisitive, articulate and well read. They will have good office IT capabilities (such as excel spreadsheet creation, maintenance and manipulation), and be familiar with basic financial analysis skills. They must be ambitious, but have a sense of loyalty to an organisation that develops them and rewards hard work. They need to be flexible in their working environment and have the personal responsibility to work to deadlines for important global client relationships. They must understand the need for accuracy and quality in their work. They will need good interpersonal skills, as they will be meeting & greeting international clients of the group when they are in Shanghai, and taking them to visit Chinese companies. They will need to be good at marketing the organisation they work for and be interested in the concept of longer term value creation and share ownership.

The role will include the following specific tasks:

• Visiting and creating a database on circa 50 Chinese companies in their own industry group area of responsibility.
• Asking the companies in their coverage area, insightful and relevant questions to enhance their understanding of those business models, and communicating that information to senior analysts in HK or directly to visiting clients.
• Maintaining and cooperating with the HK based senior analyst on financial models, and cooperating in the production process for the HK based research product.
• Visiting companies with the company's clients, and acting in a translating capacity.
• Looking out for interesting new companies that could be attractive to investors
