The Head of the US PMO takes the reports of the PMO team and works closely with other BGI PMO heads, business and technology leads, Risk, and Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategy of the US PMO in partnership with the Change Services management team
• Evolve and embed the PMO’s service capabilities in BGI’s US business
• Develop the culture of project management within the US business, such that management views this discipline as essential to success
• Oversee active projects, both business and technical aspects, providing advice and training to the project management community
• Serve as an engagement manager and consult with the business to achieve excellent project structuring and planning, and provide course-correction regarding methodology, results, and overall project quality, as necessary
• Assist the PMO’s internal clients in setting an aggressive, but achievable pace of change, ensuring the successful delivery of change with minimum business risk and maximum benefits
• Develop the level of project management skills, both within the PMO and across BGI
• Build and manage a team of project managers and business analysts that is respected by business heads, with a reputation and track record of excellent project delivery, and drive their career progression
• Manage an optimum mix of permanent and contract resources while maintaining the team’s capabilities and reputation
• Manage the US PMO’s relationships with internal oversight functions and regulators

Qualifications

• Proven program and project management skills:
  - Success in the end-to-end project lifecycle
  - Use of structured techniques
  - Experience with large scale business change initiatives
  - Good business analysis skills, including techniques and tools
• Strong commercial awareness, with consultancy and stakeholder management skills, a client service philosophy, and the ability to build and foster internal relationships
• Ability to think and act strategically:
  - Deal with day-to-day issues as well as planning and executing on longer-term projects
  - Ensuring the PMO’s activities support BGI in attaining its strategic goals
• Excellent attention to detail, and an ability to know when a deep-dive approach is appropriate
• Ability to manage a large team of high achievers with diverse experience and skill sets
• Ability to manage laterally, encouraging and coaching project managers and business analysts outside the PMO to follow best practice
• Skilled in identifying talent, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and developing team members
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and adept at communicating with all levels of the business and technical parts of the organization
• Can operate effectively in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines, and can prioritize one’s own work to achieve them
• Skilled in MS office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project
• 8-10 years of proven success in managing and organizing PMO’s and/or large programs of work
• Proven track record of successfully managing large projects with multiple project managers and business analysts across multiple internal and external stakeholders, on time, on-budget, and within scope
• Experience in managing relationships with senior business leaders, and/or held a senior position
• Deep experience in financial services, preferably with specific experience in the investment management industry
• Well-versed in project management tools and methods, able to set and maintain high standards
• Successful in team environments with matrix reporting structures
• Experienced in consulting with project stakeholders, including the skills to facilitate compromises and resolve conflicting requirements
• Superior interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to drive results through a “hands-on” approach
• Demonstrated success establishing clear priorities and managing changing demands to achieve strategic priorities
• Flexibility to work global hours and willing to travel to BGI’s offices globally
• BS/BA required, advanced degree and PMP certification preferred
