Our client, an extremely well respected international investment banking securities arm, encompasses the firm’s institutional and corporate stockbroking, equity derivatives and equity finance capabilities.
The group utilises its skills in research and risk management to originate equity-based financial solutions, products, and services for the firm’s clients globally. The Group currently has close to 2,000 professionals employed in offices around the world.
We are currently working on a new and urgent requirement in this client’s Technology Group. This Group are responsible for managing technology infrastructure; supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing business systems; and delivering & deploying new systems, technologies and services. They are critical to the way the wider group conducts business globally, as they provide each major business within the firm with a dedicated team that works closely with that business to understand its particular technology needs and deliver successfully to these.
The team is currently looking to employ a number of Application Support Analysts to support all applications implemented by the development teams for the global business. In this role, the successful applicant’s responsibilities will include:
Maintaining effective working relationships with the business, product developers, other technical stakeholders, hedge funds and related support groups.
Management of production environment and applications to ensure high performance and availability.
Identifying and developing improvements and enhancements to existing support processes and procedures.
Problem solving technical issues and proactively implementing preventative measures.
Establishment of the relevant reporting and monitoring functions for production systems.
Planning, co-ordination and execution of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) for production systems.
Pro-active analysis of production applications and defect prevention for system releases.
Providing routine application maintenance and assisting with advanced configuration work.
Incident management, resolution and reporting.
Recording and responding to user requests.
Coordinating minor changes to current IT systems with development teams.
Maintaining technical system support documentation.
Problem resolution, co-ordinating production issues between the development teams, business and other technical teams / vendors.
Experience with the following would be highly regarded in this role:
Managing IT & business stakeholder relationships.
UNIX, shell scripting, Perl, Sybase, or other relevant RDBMS. Sybase/T-SQL or Oracle PL/SQL or SQL Server with advanced SQL coding/stored procedure writing.
Prior financial markets or financial services experience with experience in front, middle and back office financial systems.
Applicants should have:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An understanding of commercial business drivers and an appreciation of these in the context of technology.
