The International Corporate Banking offices support local Corporate customers from our offices in various countries within Northern Europe, Spain and the Middle East, whilst working closely with our UK based teams and product partners. Moving forward, the strategy for International Corporate Banking will seek to bring out its own areas of strength, and to look for opportunities to leverage our international presence in order to support our Major Corporate customers more effectively. 

The Senior Strategist will help define and drive the development and implementation of strategy across Major Corporates and within International Corporate Banking. Developing and assessing the likely outcomes of investment and product development in particular sectors and geographies will be a key element of this role and will require close engagement with the Managing Directors of Major Corporates and the Heads of Corporate in International Corporate Banking.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the W&IB and Corporate Strategy and Finance functions to ensure that the approach taken is consistent with divisional priorities. Working with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, CSI reporting and developing the MTP will be a critical aspect of this role.   

Responsibilities include:

• Work with internal stakeholders to define appropriate strategies.

• Analyse and assess the outcomes of proposed strategies.

• Work with the Senior Management team to set the direction for the Medium Term Plan (MTP), and with Finance on its production.

• Developing strategies appropriate for individual sectors and geographies.

• Work with P&M and business and our Senior Manager Business Development to ensure that strategy is supported by all stakeholders.

• Ensure that the views and requirements of both businesses are communicated to the Finance and Strategy communities within W&IB.

• Some line management may also be required.

Skills and experience required:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis and strategy development, and will use these skills to work with the Major Corporate and International Corporate Banking leadership team to develop the business strategy for the future. He or she will have a pragmatic, results driven approach to strategy and be passionate about the Major Corporates and International Corporate Banking businesses.

The role holder will have strong influencing and negotiating skills, and will be adept at building relationships at all levels.

Some travel will be required to our international offices to assist in the development of the business strategy
