C# Winforms Developer UI for Quantitative Strategies Team. Strong server side C# skills

The Quantitative Investment Strategies team is a quantitative portfolio management desk. The desk manages one of the largest hedge fund families in the world using sophisticated quantitative models. It trades across assets classes on a global basis using a wide variety of instruments (cash securities, futures, forwards, options, interest rate swaps and other OTC derivatives).

The business is highly reliant upon technology across all of its activities. The systems cover research, portfolio construction, electronic trading and workflow. Technology employs a variety of architectures and technologies and works directly with the business’s users and managers. We have a clear need for strong GUI developers who can efficient develop GUIs, whilst introducing practices and adopting and enforcing a consistent user experience.

The right candidate will have solid experience of developing business GUIs for finance users – both traders and portfolio managers. Examples of useful experience are building execution apps which handle real-time market data, building reference data screens to maintain sophisticated account structures, dealing with GUIs that handle the variable attributes of asset classes. The rewards of this role include working with a first class team, learning the quantitative technology platform and working with the investment management process from construction to execution.

Principal Responsibilities:

•Play a senior developer role interacting extensively with the Portfolio Management and Trading team on trading and portfolio management initiatives.

• Become intimately familiar with the working practices of the users groups and be able to compose GUIs that are a natural fit for the users and easily scale as the complexity of the task at hand grows.

• Goal orientated role, able to work towards broad objectives. Offer a range of options to the users and efficiently iterate and refine the solutions with user and colleague feedback. • Introduce best practices around GUI design and adopt and enforce a consistent user experience.

• Perform project management functions like business modeling, gap analysis, managing scope, timelines, and risk.

• Provide day-to-day support of new and existing applications. Support is a key part of the job and requires an outgoing individual to foster relationships with the user community.

• Work as part of the QIS Technology team, collaborating with the wider team on varied projects and reporting into technology management. Experience/Skills:

• At least five years of experience in a technology role • GUI development in Microsoft technologies (C# is required) and database (ideally Sybase).

• Experience of developing bespoke GUIs for demanding users.

• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal

• Cooperate within a team and work in a rigorous and stimulating environment

• Ability to gather requirements and distill business analysis

• Comprehensive understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance

• An interest and desire to learn about financial markets

• Abilities in UNIX and Java a bonus.
