The bank in Asia has in the past few years undergone significant changes in business needs with the launch of new and more complex products and significant volume increases for both new and existing products.
In response, rollout of standard and global middle and back office systems and a global general ledger system begun in a number of Asian locations to take advantage of standardization, straight through processing and controls improvement. An Asian project started in 2005 for the construction of an Asian support functions platform, the objective of which is to more coherently answer to the needs of the businesses in an effective and efficient manner, and to standardize and streamline finance control processes.
In addition, strong business needs require rapid ‘tactical’ implementation of back-office tools in strategic locations (China, Tokyo …). These businesses needs require the analysis and the implementation of back-office tools.
Duties
• Identify, analyze and assess the impact for finance division of changes in organization, processes, procedures and controls arising from the rollout of new accounting and back-office systems
• Liaise with back-offices on process and control improvements, challenge and re-engineer finance division procedures and controls to minimize operational risks and improve efficiency
• Manage the retirement of the former legacy general ledger and secure a smooth transition to new systems and procedures
• Carry out business analysis and prepare functional specifications for future systems enhancements and/or developments as and when required
• Lead project tasks including user acceptance tests, migration and post-implementation reviews
• Monitor project progress and risks
• Understand and monitor stakeholders’ requirements and expectations
• Coordinate actions with Regional and Global teams to leverage other entities’ knowledge and experience
Requirements
• Experience in conducting process-re-engineering and change management projects
• Familiar with key accounting and finance control processes (book keeping and closing, group reporting, regulatory reporting, etc)
• Strong analytical mindset
• Leadership to challenge existing processes and propose fresh ideas
• Experience in the investment banking industry
• Strong project management and inter-personal relationships skills
• Traveling may be required occasionally
Working experience
• 8+ years experience with an audit / consulting firm or within a similar position in the banking industry
• Experience(s) with international banks is a plus
• Sarbanes-Oxley projects is a plus
