In China, Our client has operations in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Dalian, and Chengdu.

Primary Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Control
  • Direct the operations of internal financial programs and procedures.
  • Organise and supervise the finance and accounting function.
  • Work with management in development of shared services functions
  • Prepare and review short-range and long-range financial plans and present to management with a view to achieve profitability and business goals.
  • Ensure proper administration of accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, tax and treasury activities.
  • Supervising monthly management reporting.
  • Process Supervision for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Oversee Audit relationship
  • Establish relationships with banks, public accounting firms, and government bodies.
  • Work with legal and external advisors on all legal matters

Commercial role
  • Work with China MD to understand key business issues and develop a strategy to meet business and profitability goals.
  • Supervision of media rebate process and procedures. Development and refining of rebate systems
  • Negotiate/make recommendations on client contracts terms and conditions.
  • Develop relationships with key clients in order to maintain a high level of service delivery, understand key issues, and make recommendations to address issues and enhance relationships with clients.
  • Keep abreast of changes in fee arrangements and billing practices of competitors (media, advertising sector) in China, continuously assess practices, and recommend changes as required.
  • Introduce new policies and processes to meet long-term business goals and ensure that the appropriate infrastructure is in place to develop a long-term profitable business in a fast-paced and highly changeable environment.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a background in finance and accounting gained with a media communications agency with prior exposure to the business activities and commercial agenda of the media agency business.
  • Individuals with a similar background gained in agencies with other businesses in the marketing communications sector could be considered as a secondary source.
  • Experience in the China market or similar media rebate driven market would be highly preferred, though is not essential.
  • The ideal candidate should have a sound background in all areas of finance and accounting (including management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, auditing, treasury and tax) however a strong commercial acumen will be essential.
  • They should have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and be capable of developing strong relationships with the Local management as well as manage the relationships at a regional and global level.
  • The ideal candidate should be driven to understand the business, and proactively seek to add value to the business and to the organisation.
  • They should be a strategically focussed yet practical in nature and should be able to think laterally and provide innovative solutions.
  • They should have the capability to manage a team, be confident and credible and possess solid analytical skills.
  • The person hired will be a university graduate with professional accounting qualifications.
  • Fluency in English is required with Chinese language skills (Mandarin).
