Audit Senior - Assurance/Audit

The Role You will play an important role in the provision of audit and assurance services to our clients, which although are in varied industry are focused around the financial services and not-for-profit sector. Our clients demand holistic audit and assurance services, and thus the position requires sound knowledge of accounting standards and the audit process.

You will also be responsible for the delivery of audit work to high level for review and in certain instances the planning, including related correspondence, documentation and reporting, as well as assisting undergraduates in the completion of their work. You may also be called upon to conduct internal training sessions on special topics.

Minimum Requirements Education University Graduate, with solid results; Generally commenced and passing the CA Program or CPA; or Alternatively, has strong previous work experience. Experience Minimum of 4 years full time in the chartered profession or in the commercial sector.

We are particularly looking for the following:

  • Delegates lower level work to junior staff where it is cost effective, and uses that opportunity to train the junior staff;
  • Commencing to perform more complex technical tasks;
  • Thorough working knowledge of accounting standards and tax, as well as a detailed understanding of the audit process and audit risk assessment;
  • Suggests ways to improve clients/internal business or processes; Is competent user of software products used in the division or by clients;
  • Is often an alternative client contact to the partner or manager;
  • Learning higher level applications of software products used in the division or by clients;
  • Professional presentation generally;
  • Prepares work paper files in accordance with firm and divisional standards and trains junior staff in this regard;
  • Has good letter writing skills and drafts the first copy of reports for senior staff to review;
  • Liaises with supervisor/manager/partner to get jobs reviewed and completed;
  • Presents formal staff training;
  • Seeking and exploiting marketing opportunities within existing clients (and developing new opportunities);
  • Responsible for variances to budgets;
  • Meet budgeted productivity;
  • Has shown initiative by commencing to take on aspects of administration of group;
  • Routine work is performed very accurately and efficiently with minimal errors;
  • Monitors work in progress to ensure it is maintained at an acceptable level;
  • Responsible for meeting deadlines and maintaining the client by meeting or exceeding their expectations by producing timely and accurate work;
  • Prepares draft invoices to manager / partner at end of engagement;
  • Contributes positively to staff morale and firm culture; Financial services and not-for-profit sector specialisations would be an advantage.
