The role of BGI's Head of Data Protection is to assume responsibility and assure that BGI is aware of and complies with all of the data protection rules that it is subject to.

Job Responsibilities

  • To implement policies/procedures/procedures to ensure BGI Global complies with all relevant privacy/data protection laws and associated regulation by Creating a compliance and monitoring programme to assess compliance
  • To act as a liaison point between BGI and the Group Privacy Team.
  • Attend Data Protection forums (both internal and external) in order to monitor and interpret all new legislation pertaining to BGI Global
  • Oversee the subject access request process (where applicable) including the management of staff subject access requests [in conjunction with Legal/HR]
  • Facilitate a Global center of excellence for all data protection issues including the identification of data protection risk issues arising from commercial contracts to be entered into by BGI Global.
  • Oversee the provision of expert data protection advice to the global business at the inception of and throughout new projects and initiatives
  • Ensure BGI-owned data protection registrations (both UK and International ) are accurate and up to date
  • Oversee sign-off on all marketing copy, terms and conditions and scripts to ensure compliance with relevant privacy legislation

    Qualifications

  • Data Protection Law
  • Contract & Commercial law
  • Experience of broad range of commercial transactions, e.g. alliances, co-branding agreements, marketing arrangements, joint ventures & associated Data Protection issues
  • Law, legal issues and contracts relating to the procurement of products and services (non-technology)
  • Ability to interpret requirements, assess the impacts and devise practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of international data protection laws
  • Experience of regulatory work.
  • Knowledge of financial services related to asset management
  • General knowledge of EU regulatory framework
