We are looking for a candidate to help deliver on key operational goals including the management of the confirmations group and supporting the continued business growth and strategic agenda. The group is part of the Global Derivative Operations team and is based in San Francisco.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a team of 10 people responsible for the confirmation of all BGI’s North American traded OTC derivatives.
  • Drive the continued growth and retention of a high-quality team capable of managing daily functions, supporting business growth, and implementing continual process improvements.
  • Drive the development of the processes, infrastructure, reporting and controls around key functional areas.
  • Manage capacity and effectively manage risk.
  • Build strong relationships with the portfolio managers and traders across all products to support the team in resolving trade disputes and help proactively manage processes to support business growth.
  • Provide an authoritative source of business expertise on functional and process requirements and manage change agenda for key initiatives that have an impact across processes and people.
  • Work closely with European confirmations group in London to drive the build-out of globally consistent processes and set standards and guidelines across the global team.
  • Proactively own counterparty relationships, developing a framework for oversight and performance review, and act as point of internal and external escalation and issue resolution where required.
  • Help lead the BGI strategy and participation with key industry and market bodies including SwapsWire, DTCC and T-Zero.
  • Represent the group while working with the wider operations team and technology areas to ensure the development of a world-class, scaleable operating platform for OTC derivatives.
  • Own all aspects of people management including recruitment, succession planning, career development, training, and performance appraisal process.

    Qualifications:
  • Proven operational leadership experience in a derivatives role in investment banking, a hedge fund, or investment manager.
  • Hands-on derivatives leadership experience including exposure to fast-paced change and business growth.
  • Thorough understanding of derivatives and the end-to-end transaction lifecycle.
  • Proven record of building strong teams and developing/coaching high quality individuals.
  • Proven ability to build strong control framework and efficient, scalable processes.
  • Track record of successful delivery and experience building strong partnerships with internal and external groups.
  • Prior leadership experience within derivative confirmations, working as part of a global business or functional area, and across a range of asset classes preferable.
  • Exposure to and experience of managing change initiatives and process re-engineering.
  • Knowledge of UK and US legal and regulatory issues relating to derivatives.
  • Knowledge of market utilities including Swaps Wire, DTCC and T-Zero, as well as front-to-back platforms such as Calypso a plus.

  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
