The US Performance Group is responsible for measuring portfolio and benchmark returns and for reporting the differential between a portfolio’s return and its corresponding benchmark return. The Performance Group works closely with Portfolio Management teams, Client Relationship, Client Reporting, Knowledge Management and Custodian Administrators.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead BGI U.S. performance measurement function:
  • Continue to create and provide performance measurement information for client reporting purposes.
  • Manage the team responsible for providing security level attribution and performance for our index equity and iShares products.
  • Work with the Fixed Income and Active Equities Product Groups to expand the servicing offering by determining which areas will need independently sourced attribution.
  • Directly responsible for the recruitment and development of team members, including training, setting of key objective and formal performance reviews.
  • Ensure that collectively the team has the required skills and expertise to support all business areas.
  • Business owner for BGI U.S. performance measurement technology applications. Manage evolution of performance measurement technology.
  • Participate in BGI’s global GIPS compliance framework – ensure that global solution meets the needs of the U.S. business. Implement working group proposal.
  • Form an integral part of the global performance team, leading collaboration and dissemination of ideas and solution implementation across BGI’s regions by participating in a global performance working group.
  • Actively understand, develop, and implement the strategic objectives of the firm and how they influence the direction of the performance team, taking action where appropriate.
  • Provide consultancy for BGI’s business areas on new products and strategies, designing performance solutions where appropriate.

    Qualifications:
  • Seven to ten years experience in performance measurement with at least three years experience as Head of Performance Measurement at a large asset management firm, including multi-factor attribution analysis and a global GIPS framework.
  • Experience of attribution system selection and implementation across all asset classes.
  • Experience of building a performance measurement team both in terms of personnel and function.
  • Experience of working with quantitatively-oriented fund managers.
  • Experience of fixed income performance measurement.
  • Managed a team of 10 to 12 staff.
  • Performance measurement skills – highly technically proficient across all asset classes and instruments. Proven strength in fixed income and alternative fund attribution.
  • Program management skills – attention to details and proficiency at managing project deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities – ability to interact with all levels of the organization including senior management and business heads.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to recruit, motivate and develop high caliber individuals.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.

    Preferred Skills and Aptitudes:
  • Knowledge of quantitative investment techniques.
  • Proven capability in active currency attribution.
  • Promoted education – CFA or CIPM
