This person will help design and implement a strategy for the Latin American offshore private banking business. The Latin American group is having significant success in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Peru and Colombia. BGI is expanding its model into other countries and segments in the region. This position will support the development of BGI's strategy in the region and explore ways for consolidation and expansion.
This position will be based in Miami and will support BGI's emerging business in Latin America.
Primary Responsibilties
The main responsibilities include (i) assist in the development and execution of a business strategy for expansion of BGI institutional products among offshore private banking managers; and (ii) support the business development effort in Latin America:
The business strategy project includes estimating the market size, outlining BGI's business model and product offering, assessing BGI's strengths and weaknesses, marketing and sales strategy, and estimating the next 3-5 years economic plan for the initiative. Target market includes key intermediaries with off-shore assets in the United States and the Caribbean private banking and family office segments. Key products include ETFs, offshore cash, fixed income strategies, and alternative investments (external alpha).
You will be expected to identify issues related to the offshore private banking market, develop hypotheses for BGI's operations in the market, gather and collect data using different sources, structure and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses including one-on-one interviews, synthesize and present recommendations, and develop and execute a comprehensive implementation plan.
You will support the execution of this plan.
You should be able to interact with senior leaders of BGI and external organizations, build credible interactions including discussions based on complex product and investment issues.
You should interact and build strong relationships with Barclays resources covering the Latin America region.
Some international and US travel will be required.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone to help us with this new initiative that we are formalizing to cover the off-shore Latin American assets market managed out of the U.S.
We are looking for someone with 5-8 years of experience in the Private Banking industry in Miami covering Latin American clients.
Experience selling off-shore funds to these Private Banking platforms. The candidate could also be someone with 2-4 years of experience in this industry after an MBA.
Requires five years of related business experience, with at least three years working with Latin American assets with a top financial service or consulting institution. Off-shore private banking or mutual fund distribution experience highly desirable.
Fluency in oral and written Spanish is needed, knowledge of Portuguese is a plus
Must also have the demonstrated ability, high energy and motivation to work on multiple projects and achieve results in a fast-paced, team/collaborative environment, while often working independently.
Strong academic training in Finance/Economics/Engineering from a top U.S. academic institution.
MBA, CFA or working towards CFA highly desirable.
Will possess NASD Series 7 and 63 certifications; or ability to acquire certifications within six months of hire.
