By joining our accounting department as a Senior Staff Accountant, you will become part of a closely knit, dynamic team that is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, reconciliation with financial operations profit and loss (P&L) reports, as well as annual external audit and tax filing support. In this role, you will be able to act autonomously to gather all of the relevant information to prepare financials from multiple internal and external sources in order to ensure timely and accurate completion of all of the financials required for the entities under your responsibility. You will also collaborate with colleagues throughout the accounting team as well as with our financial operations groups to enhance your understanding of the business strategies and financial products utilized in the firm's various operating entities.
Furthermore, you will have innumerable opportunities to participate in challenging and diverse projects, such as assisting the firm's external auditors in the annual audit process of the companies for which they are responsible. Your role may also entail the consolidation of financial reporting and tax projections as well as various internal valuations. Essential Functions Analysis, on a monthly basis, of any information provided by clearing brokers, as well as, preparing financial statements for various broker-dealers and holding companies
Assist external auditors in the annual audit process of the companies under responsibility
Reconcile, on a monthly basis, the daily P&L, and the general ledger
Work autonomously and be responsible for gathering all relevant information to prepare financials, including: gathering information from various clearing brokers and internal sources
Consolidated financial reporting projections, tax projections, and various internal valuations
Required/Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in accounting or business required
Minimum of two (2) years in a staff accounting role required; Public Accounting experience and a CPA preferred
Exhibition of a high energy level and capability of making certain decisions independent of management influence
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, required
Ability to be flexible in dealing with others
Capability of handling multiple tasks while remaining focused on job objectives
Strong desire to learn about financial products and how business strategies effect financial statements necessary
Ability to create and drive innovative processes and approaches to problems in an ever growing and complex business environment; instinctively seek ways to improve efficiency
Must be committed to being part of a team environment which emphasizes customer service and responsiveness to both internal and external parties
