For the Hourly trader / System operator role you need to have a good understanding of the gas and electricity markets, preferably with exposure to front office trading. In this highly sought role you will be working closely with the forward traders, and looking at the exposure on trading positions, as well as daily profit and loss.
Responsibilities include: Ensures accuracy of real time positions including validation of various load forecasts.
Creates and submits hourly balancing energy bids, procedures, and strategies
Submits ancillary services and replacement reserve market bids as well as manage hourly base power schedules to ensure smooth ramps
Executes daily or hourly trades to balance the real time portfolio
Executes hourly load adjustments to position load obligations strategically in the balancing energy market
Ensures all hourly bilateral/ancillary services schedules are matched with counterparties and is able to resolve mismatches
Monitors real-time congestion interface flows, with the ability to react as these flows approach or exceed limits
Maintains accurate and timely log of all activities and other items each shift
Qualifications Undergraduate degree in engineering, economics, finance, or related disciplines
2 to 5 years experience in financial or physical trading, commodity risk management, or similar disciplines required Comments This position requires night and weekend shift work.
