Our Client, an International Investment Bank has expanded rapidly in the MENA region in the last two years. As part of that growth, the position of Business Area Controller has arisen in the Finance department in Riyadh.
The position involves supporting the primary Business Area Controller (BAC)within Saudi Arabia in executing responsibilities to provide a full range of Finance services to a number of businesses including, but not limited to, Global Markets, Global Banking and Private Wealth Management. In addition, a number of entity accounting functions will require your involvement in respect Regulatory, Tax and Financial reporting within Saudi Arabia. You will be able to demonstrate experience gained in an existing Business Area Control or Product Accounting role within a banking or securities environment. The role will require ‘hands-on’ involvement in the following functional areas:
Regular daily and monthly P&L and Risk reporting to the Front Office, demonstrating the confidence to liaise with both line business management and central functions in ensuring that appropriate standards and procedures are rigorously applied
Financial/Management accounting for the above businesses within Saudi Arabia, including provision of financial and non-financial MIS to businesses requirements
Regulatory Reporting to local banking regulators as well as other periodic regulatory and statutory reporting obligations
Project-focussed multi-functional teams as part of product or business start-up initiatives
Internal control and quality assurance procedures and reporting requirements
The role requires the following underlying competencies:
Product experience in a BAC role, including knowledge of Debt, Equity, Money Market and other Markets products from a Finance perspective
The ability to recognise, analyse and communicate ‘risks’ inherent in a given operational or product booking situation
An aptitude for ‘change’ and the ability to bring practical accounting skills to Finance in a rapidly changing business environment
Strong inter-personal communication skills to support relationship-building across multi-functional teams
An ability to work on initiative, providing leadership and motivation to other team members within Finance and other functional partners, whilst at the same time ensuring alignment with accepted Group and Regional policies
Other requirements:
Accounting Qualification (or similar)
Strong MS Office skills
Working knowledge of SAP R3/AP would be an added advantage
